Dogtooth Amethyst Origami Earrings

Purple has long been the color of royalty and nobility. It is a deep, passionate color that evokes emotions. People who desire purple colors are individuals who like to make a personal statement, and express their unique taste. The Greek work "amethystos" basically can be translated as "not drunken" , expresses the ancient folk belief that the stone protects its owner against drunkenness. As the myth goes, drinking wine from an Amethyst goblet would prevent one from becoming inebriated. The gemstone still symbolizes sobriety.

Marche La Recre set up

Marche La Recre has been going on it's 5th week now and I have to say that it has been really fun. Being at this kind of artisans market is really a first for me and it has been a great learning experience. Not to mention the wonderful people I get to meet each week is always very inspiring, and I am very grateful to be able to mingle and talk to so many different creative, talented, and interesting artisans in Montreal. It's really too bad we can't get together more often and share the LOVE!

My set up, and display was a work in progress, and after thinking and planning out what I had envisioned for my little venture I am proud of the results. Here is how it came to fruition.


1. I started off with 2 wine crates I got free from the SAQ. I was really happy about this find as it was free and I got to recycle and re-use which is always a plus!
2. After much humming and hawing I decided to paint the inside white. Nice and Simple.


3. I then stuck scraps of origami paper along the edges, drilled holes in the sides, and used dowels from Rona that I cut to size to hang the earrings off of.

Cinnamon Origami Earring

A guy at my yoga class today said that if these were edible he would eat them. If they were made of cinnamon I would tend to agree with him. Alas these are made of paper and to be honest I think they taste far from spicy-sweet cinamon hearts you get on valentine's day.

These are another mini pair, about the size of a dime, and are accompanied by sterling silver flowers with opal beads.

The name opal is derived from the Latin word opalus, meaning seeing jewel. According to another theory the word opal comes from upala, a Sanskrit word simply meaning a stone. It is the birth stone of Libra. And in ancient times opal was accepted as a symbol of faithfulness and confidence.

Caribbean Ocean Mini Origami Earrings

This Caribbean blue is a great color and in my opionion can be worn by any skin type and hair color. it just POPS!

Light blue chalcedony beads are paired with ocean colored origami. These origami pieces are about the size of a dime. Sterling silver.

Aquamarine and Amber Grape Cluster Earrings

These guys I made at the grape cluster earring making workshop I did at Lady Jane's Treasure trove, I loved the color combination so much that I had to make a pair of my own. These are my go to pair when I can't seem to find something that really matches with an outfit.

These are made from amber colored Czech glass beads, with aquamarine tops and bottoms. Sterling silver.

After the sunset Earrings

After the Sunset is a great date night movie, action, romance, Peirce and Salma, really... what more could you ask for? These earrings were inspired by the pair that Salma wore in the closing scene of this movie, I thought they looked so pretty that I decided I had to re-make them!

These earrings are made of korean Jade, Carnelian and blue chalcedony, made with sterling silver.

New Artisans Market Opens this Saturday!

A new artisans market is opening this Saturday, June 17^th in Mile End and will be open every Saturday between 10-5 all summer. The market will have everything from vintage clothes, and furniture to hand made items by local artists and designers (some items include art, jewellery, clothes, fabrics, etc.)

These guys are chunky and awesome! The top twist bead are Murano glass, golden yellow with demin blue colored stripes. The bottom bead is navy colored and is a gem called goldstone, it's hard to tell here but the bead actually has little flecks inside, almost as if you are looking at a midnight sky. They are not too heavy, and are perfect for the girl who appreciates large funky accessories. These earrings measure about 2.5" long.

Cape Cod Origami Earrings

These earrings sport aquamarine droplets at the bottom, daintily hanging off a little piece of chain. Aquamarine is the birthstone of Scorpio and Gemini (happy birthday!), it is used soothe, calme and alleviate fears and phobias, also can be used to promote safe travel on water!

This little ditty is a little smaller than my original origami earrings (at least the paper part is). Each part is about the size of a quarter and would be a fun addition to any spring/summer wardrobe.

The yellow beads are special to me as I purchased them in Switzerland, so they are definately one of a kind here in Montreal :)

Black Agate Earrings ***SOLD***

Agate is Composed of microscopic crystals of Quartz laid down in colorful bands or ribbons. In Feng Shui, Agate is used primarily anywhere to help bring change. Black agate is a grounding stone, and is used to calming and sooth the mind allowing for inward meditation and reflection.

This particular black agate was chemically treated to give it that interesting denim look. They therefore look more navy than black and are complemented nice with a silver pearl.
